Responsibilities

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

St. Mary's is a 229-bed, acute care hospital located in Enid, OK. St. Mary's Regional Medical Center has served the healthcare needs of northwest Oklahoma for more than 100 years. Implements Physical Therapy services/treatments for patients under the supervision of PT in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability. He/she assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. Maintains appropriate documentation.

• Demonstrates strong working knowledge and skill experience with a variety of diagnostic groups including, but not limited to, the following: orthopedic and arthritis related conditions; neurological groups including CVA, TBI, degenerative neurological diseases, SCI; generalized weakness as a result of medical or surgical conditions including DM, ESRD, amputation, COPD, CHF, and CABG under direct supervision of a licensed therapist.
• Demonstrates knowledge of IRF-PAI (Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility-Patient Assessment Instrument) and the Care Tool and their application in payment system for CMS.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of normal growth and development, related behaviors, needs, comfort, and range of treatment appropriate to the age (adult, geriatric) and diagnosis of patient services to support the provision of an individualized interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Implements patient care, with consideration of the interdisciplinary team process and patient plan of care, in a knowledgeable and skillful manner, maintaining a high quality of work performance in all areas.
• Demonstrates the ability to provide the proper assistance, verbal cueing, et al necessary for optimal performance and patient outcome.

• Associate degree from APTA accredited school required.
• Eligible for or holds current Physical Therapist Assistant licensure to practice in the State of Oklahoma required.
• BLS required.
• First Aid certification preferred.
• Previous PTA experience in inpatient rehab or acute experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills required.
