Centene Corporation is transforming health care for 28 million members. We invite a talented Associate Actuary to support Medicaid markets across the United States.
Position PurposeThis Associate Actuary provides cross‑market, cross‑functional support for all Centene Medicaid markets. The role conducts analysis, pricing, and risk assessment, manages health plan actuarial needs, and produces reports that aid corporate strategy development.
Responsibilities- Serve as the primary contact for actuarial activities for an assigned health plan.
- Manage at least one health plan.
- Apply mathematics, probability, statistics, and finance principles to calculate financial outcomes.
- Research and analyze impacts of legislative changes.
- Determine equitable basis for distributing insurance benefit pay.
- Analyze and evaluate required premium rates.
- Assess cash reserves and liabilities to enable future benefit payment.
- Understand Medicaid markets and inter‑organizational capabilities.
- Analyze diverse data sources to provide value and recommendations.
- Incorporate data governance, security, and quality competencies.
- Prepare reports and deliver summaries for actuarial and non‑actuarial audiences.
- Collaborate effectively with the broader actuarial and analytics team and support ad‑hoc analytics.
- Maintain documentation of data definitions, transformations, and processes to support governance and security.
- Develop and train junior staff.
- Pursue FSA actuarial designation.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation or equivalent international certification.
- 2+ years of actuarial experience.
- Strong interest in Medicaid market dynamics.
- Experience with health care and pharmacy claims.
- Expertise in Excel, SQL/SAS, R, Python, and model building.
- Knowledge or eagerness to learn Medicaid rules and policies.
Pay Range $87,700.00 – $ per year. Centene offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, 401(k), stock purchase plans, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, and flexible work arrangements (remote, hybrid, office). Actual pay is adjusted based on experience, education, and other factors permitted by law.
