Mechanic at Waste Connections summary:
Waste Connections seeks a full-time diesel mechanic to perform diagnostics, inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance on diesel collection trucks and related systems. Role requires interpreting vehicle computer codes, completing DVIR-reported repairs, documenting work in fleet maintenance software, and maintaining OSHA-compliant shop safety. Minimum 3 years’ mechanic experience and a CDL A/B (or willingness to obtain) are required; schedule is Monday–Friday with alternating Saturdays and a $34–$36/hr pay range.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, with alternating Saturdays as needed
Hours: 12P-9P
Rate: $34-$36/ hr depending on experience
Employment Type: Full-time

CDL A or B (or willingness to obtain through our CDL school)
Computer Diagnostic Experience

Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, repairs, and diagnostics on diesel vehicles, including electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems
- Interpret vehicle computer system failure codes and make necessary adjustments to engine and vehicle control modules
- Review and complete repairs noted on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports
- Accurately document services using fleet maintenance software
- Conduct post-service test drives to ensure safety and performance
- Collaborate with teammates on complex repairs
- Maintain professional, courteous communication with drivers and team members
- Keep work spaces clean and compliant with OSHA standards
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
- Minimum 3 years of mechanic experience, preferably with diesel trucks
- Strong skills in electrical and hydraulic systems
- Well-rounded experience in mechanical and welding repairs
- Familiarity with diesel vehicle diagnostics and preventative maintenance
- Basic tool set required
- Valid CDL Class B or A license required
- Ability to work independently within a shop environment
