Overview
The Aquatic Maintenance Coordinator is primarily responsible for the care and maintenance of the Englewood Recreation Center swimming pool and Pirates Cove swimming pools. This person will perform all duties necessary to maintain the swimming pool and all swimming pool areas. Must be able to take initiative, as well as the ability to work without direct supervision. Must be able to work with pool chemicals, trouble shoot water chemistry problems and enforce facility policies.
Hours may include late evening and or early morning along with weekends and select holidays.
Reports to: Aquatics Manager
Direct Reports: Regular and Seasonal Maintenance Leads and Staff
Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe listed examples of work are not intended to be all-inclusive. They may be modified with additions, deletions, or changes as necessary.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Preparing Pirates Cove swimming pools and swimming pool equipment for the operating season and shut down and winterizing swimming pools and assist in Pirates Cove building winterization.
- Assures swimming pools at both Pirates Cove and The Englewood Rec Center are chemically balanced, heated, and sanitized in accordance with the Colorado Health Departments standards and Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC).
- Reading swimming pool flows, filter pressure readings, backwashing and maintaining water filtration system.
- Perform preventive maintenance on all swimming pool equipment at both Pirates Cove and Englewood Rec Center.
- Take water chemistry readings, record readings, adjust chemicals and maintain chemical feeders and controllers at both facilities.
- Maintains inventory control of maintenance, custodial supplies, swimming pool chemicals, tools and repair parts at both facilities.
- Inspects facilities for security, safety or needed repairs and takes appropriate action at both facilities.
- Identifies areas for contracted repair for the upcoming season.
- Responds to off duty hour pool related emergencies.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor plumbing and electrical repairs and replacement to chemical feeders, filtration systems and other swimming pool equipment.
- Ensures safe swimming pool environment by: attending safety training; following proper safety procedures, taking safety precautions, anticipating unsafe circumstances, acting accordingly to prevent accidents and promptly reporting accidents and hazardous conditions.
- Assists with administrative reports including incident/accident, chemical readings, chemical usage, slide check, diving board check, etc. Provides necessary records and documents needed for budget preparation.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Hires, trains, and schedules all Seasonal Maintenance staff.
- Maintains and update Safety Data Sheets and “Right to Know Stations”.
- Coordinates with vendors, suppliers and sub-contractors for products or services.
- Assists with contracted construction and repair projects, schedule installations, coordinate equipment and material purchase.
Education
- High School Education or GED
Work Experience
- 1 year of experience of working in the aquatics field
Certifications and/or Licensures
- Possess or obtain either Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool & Spa Operator (CPO)
- Possess or obtain CPR/First Aid within 3 months of employment.
- Valid Colorado driver’s license and a clear or acceptable MVR.
An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant job experience may be substituted.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge
- Basic knowledge of swimming pool equipment and swimming pool operation
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work with various hand tools and the safe operation of power tools such as drills, grinder, power washer, blower, air compressor.
- Computer Skills – Entry level computer skills
- Communication - Strong customer service skills needed to interact with patrons. Must be able to work with a variety of people and situations.
- Mathematical - Basic skills required to perform pool calculations.
$52,443.87 - $78,665.81/Annual Salary
Working ConditionsWork is performed in an indoor and outdoor warm humid swimming pool environment. Job requires handling various pool chemicals with requirement to wear personal protective equipment. Person must be able to lift 50 lbs. and able to work well in a team oriented, fast paced, changing environment.
