What You Can Expect

Paragon 28, a Zimmer Biomet Company focused on orthopedic medical devices for the foot and ankle, is hiring a Quality Engineering Technician to join their team in Englewood, Colorado. This is an onsite position. The Calibration & Quality Engineering Technician supports the company’s quality management system by ensuring timely calibration, tracking, and maintenance of measurement gages and related equipment. This role also assists with nonconformance reviews, supplier communication, and data entry within quality systems.

Over time, this position may transition from engineer-supported duties to an independent technician-level role, with opportunities for growth into quality engineering functions.

How You ll Create Impact

Responsibilities
  • Calibration Management
    • Prepare monthly calibration schedules by exporting and organizing upcoming gages due for calibration.
    • Maintain detailed tracking spreadsheets including calibration vendor, gage location (in-house or supplier), and replacement availability.
    • Group calibration items by purchase order and coordinate with multiple vendors (e.g., BHD, Transcat, F&G).
    • Review calibration certifications in the quality system (CQ) to determine calibration history and locations.
  • Vendor & Supplier Communication
    • Request calibration quotes and issue purchase orders (POs).
    • Communicate tracking information and follow up with calibration suppliers regarding shipments and results.
    • Contact production suppliers to arrange timely return of gages for calibration, ensuring replacements are provided before expiration.
  • Equipment Handling
    • Gather, package, and ship gages for calibration, including replacement and returned items.
    • Maintain organization of the gage cage, ensuring accurate labeling and inventory tracking in CQ.
    • Relabel and clean all gages upon return from calibration, ensuring accurate expiration dates and readiness for use.
  • System & Data Management
    • Create and manage POs for calibration and new gage purchases, ensuring accurate transfer of vendor information.
    • Update CQ records to activate, deactivate, suspend, or retire gages as needed.
    • Record NCR and MRBU metrics in tracking spreadsheets and internal databases.
  • Quality & Nonconformance Activities
    • Review inspection issues in EIL and determine nonconformance status in coordination with DQEs.
    • Initiate and document NCRs, including completing forms, labeling, and moving parts physically and systematically within SAP.
    • Support closure of MRBU Smart Sheet line items once dispositioned.
    • Participate in weekly MRBU review meetings.
  • Internal Calibration & Recertification
    • Perform internal recertification for specific gages (e.g., screw gages, color gages) using established methods or comparative standards.
  • Temperature Control Monitoring
    • Review freezer excursion data logs biweekly via Fusion Live and generate reports for any excursions.
Your Background
  • Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent experience in a highly regulated quality organization
  • Quality Inspection and Production experience
  • Experience in gauging, calibration and non-conformance
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • QMS experience preferred

Compensation

Hourly Rate: $23.00 - $32.00 depending on skills and experience
