Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Telemetry position on a cardiac surgical stepdown unit, requiring at least 2 years of recent PCU and cardiac experience and a CO or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital setting on a 20-bed cardiac surgical stepdown (Progressive Care Unit)
- Day shifts are 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4
- Unit is staffed with RNs and PCTs, including a charge RN on each shift
- Equipment used includes telemetry monitors, transport monitors, suction, feeding pumps, trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, heated high-flow systems, chest tubes, pacer wires/pacers, IV pumps, and SCD pumps
- Procedures performed include chest tube placement/removal, pacer wire removal, and 12 lead EKGs
- EMR system used is Meditech
- Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility; locals are not eligible
- Documentation and professional references are required for application
- Team includes charge RNs, staff RNs, and PCTs providing coordinated care
- Responsibilities include monitoring telemetry, administering cardiac drips, and assisting with specialized cardiac procedures
- First-time travelers are accepted for this assignment
- Active CO or compact state RN license
- At least 2 years of recent PCU and cardiac experience required
- Current ACLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted)
- Experience with cardiac drips including heparin, Tikosin, diltiazem, amiodarone, nitro, lasix, and ketamine
- Ability to safely manage chest tubes, pacer wires, and telemetry monitoring
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
- Must provide US Social Security Number and date of birth for consideration
- NIH Stroke Certification required
