Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Developer-Driven Design Technician, where you will serve as the primary liaison between customers, construction teams, and utility providers. You will design facilities using GIS-based Design Manager, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and regulatory requirements. This role offers the opportunity to manage multiple projects, secure permits, and provide accurate cost estimates, all while contributing to meaningful projects like wildfire mitigation and community infrastructure development.
Responsibilities- Act as the primary liaison between customers, construction teams, and utility providers.
- Design facilities using GIS-based Design Manager, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
- Interpret construction drawings to define project scope.
- Manage multiple projects from start to finish, tracking progress and ensuring timely completion.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and internal teams to move projects forward.
- Secure permits and easements needed for construction.
- Execute contracts and agreements in line with administrative and regulatory guidelines.
- Provide accurate cost estimates and create work orders using SAP for construction teams.
- Attend occasional field visits (approx. 10% of time) to assess project sites.
- Participate in on-site meetings with clients to determine project requirements.
- Strong work ethic and customer service skills.
- Technical aptitude with experience in design software, GIS, or graphic design.
- Ability to quickly learn new systems and tools.
- Self‑motivated and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Strong communication skills for customer coordination.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a design, construction, or related field preferred.
- Working knowledge of GIS or similar mapping software is preferred.
- Experience with the SAP platform is preferred.
Skills & Qualifications
- Interest in joining the energy industry.
- Must have a valid driver's license and vehicle.
- Previous utility design experience is a plus.
- Experience working with underground utilities is a plus.
Q3C is a trusted leader in utility construction with more than 25 years of experience supporting natural gas and electric utility projects. The company is known for its hands‑on field expertise and its critical role in emergency response efforts—most notably helping restore gas and power to thousands of homes after the Boulder County wildfires. This role is based in our modern office in Dove Valley, CO, located 15 miles south of Denver.
You will work in an in‑office setting, 5 days a week, with flexible start times available after training (between 6:30 AM – 8:30 AM). The role offers two distinct paths: a customer‑facing Developer‑Driven Design role or an internally focused Wildfire Design Team role. The Developer‑Driven role involves direct coordination with clients and construction teams, while the Wildfire Design Team focuses on technical work supporting safety projects.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenwood Village, CO.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 – $25.00/hr.
