Senior Project Manager - Transmission Routing and Siting

Responsibilities
  • Develop buildable routing & siting solutions for utility & developer infrastructure
  • Work with project teams, consultants, stakeholders (government, regulators, communities, landowners)
  • Prepare testimony, technical documentation & studies supporting line‑route & facility site selection
  • Prepare & monitor project scope, schedule & budget
  • Develop newer staff and produce client deliverables
  • Build key relationships within HDR and with utilities
  • Strategic thinking, networking, client relations & lead development
  • Travel 10‑20% of the time
  • Perform other duties as needed
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience managing & leading projects, seeking broader leadership in complex projects
  • Strong background in routing, siting & regulatory approvals for electric facilities; expert witness experience desired
  • Ability to handle multiple non‑routine tasks, research & write concise technical documents, meet tight deadlines
  • Detail‑oriented, organized, effective communicator, team player with focus on quality & client service
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, science, community planning, engineering, landscape architecture or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of linear project experience (land acquisition, routing, environmental planning)
  • Minimum 8 years in writing proposals, scopes of work, budgets, schedules for complex environmental projects with multi‑disciplinary teams
  • Experience preparing regulatory applications to state utility regulatory agencies & system operators
  • Experience providing expert witness testimony
  • Understanding of permit requirements
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, analytical, problem‑solving & research abilities
  • Ability to support multiple complex, time‑sensitive projects
  • Identify and resolve issues efficiently
  • Positive and proactive interaction with design & construction teams
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 10 years related experience
  • 5+ years project management experience
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, estimating & scheduling software, project management software
  • Excellent organizational, project management & communication skills (written & verbal)
