Overview
Technician Engineer Field position at Pauley Construction, LLC. The role focuses on construction and maintenance of plant infrastructure, design, and engineering within outside plant telecommunications.
What You’ll Do- Oversee and manage field engineering activities responsible for planning, designing, and obtaining permits for new cable routes
- Visit customer sites to gather OSP site survey information, evaluate requirements and determine OSP equipment required
- Work as part of a multi-faceted team with engineering, construction, project management, and scheduling personnel to deliver results
- Coordinate with drafting and/or GIS personnel to produce construction drawings used to construct the network
- Develop base mapping and provide field engineering services to prepare permit drawings, OSP construction drawings, and final as-built drawings in electronic format

- Research and incorporate permitting requirements from jurisdictional authorities (state, county, city, railroads, and others) into the OSP design
- Recommend final route based on most economical solution and permitting agency requirements
- Research and evaluate various route options (aerial and underground), existing customer conduit and third-party conduit
- Engage daily with the customer’s engineering team and project management staff via emails/phone and occasional in-person meetings
- Maintain safe working habits and conditions according to regulations and policies
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- Valid state driver’s license (not provisional), with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass a background check and company drug screening
- Ability to attend and pass all company-required training
- May be required to work after hours, on weekends, or be on-call as needed
- Regular and timely attendance is an essential function
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
- 4-6 years of experience in the OSP Engineering field with experience in aerial and underground construction methods and engineering requirements
- Experience with cable placement and splicing methods and practices
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to travel and work extended hours; overtime and weekends as needed
- Reliable transportation and a clean driving record
- Familiarity with permitting requirements for state and local agencies
- Working understanding of RUS units and related processes
- Ability to stand, crouch, sit, bend, and use hands/fingers; reach with hands and arms to spaces both high and low
- Noise level is low to moderate
- Frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds
- Exposure to various weather conditions and potential hazards in field environments
- May be exposed to toxic chemicals or corrosive materials
- Specific vision abilities required: close, distance, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
