Position Summary

This assistant coach will provide support for field events such as high‑jump, long‑jump, shot put, discus, and other track and field events. The role collaborates with the head track coach or designee regarding practice activities and strategies, assists with the implementation of daily practice activities for students, helps with scheduling, accompanies and supervises the team at home and away games, and develops and promotes good community relations among stakeholders.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment supported by effective classroom management structures that promote high-quality instruction, student engagement, and academic achievement.
  • Implement consistent routines that encourage student participation, critical thinking, creativity, and originality.
  • Collaborate with specialists to design and deliver appropriate and meaningful learning opportunities for students with special needs.
  • Foster a respectful learning environment that upholds the dignity of all students and is perceived as fair, consistent, and supportive.
  • Differentiate instruction to provide enrichment opportunities for advanced learners and targeted support for students who are not yet proficient.
  • Ensure instructional processes, procedures, and data collection systems are well organized, efficient, and make optimal use of instructional time.
  • Motivate, engage, and empower students to track and monitor their own fitness and personal progress.
  • Provide high-quality, accurate, constructive, specific, and timely feedback that supports continuous improvement and encourages students to perform at their highest level.
  • Utilize technology and other communication platforms (e.g., websites, podcasts) to effectively share information with students, families, and other stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings and professional learning opportunities, applying new knowledge and skills to enhance instructional programming.
  • Advocate for and lead initiatives that support student success both in and out of the classroom.
  • Adhere to the professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice when making decisions and carrying out responsibilities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervision/Technical Responsibilities

Possible supervision of support personnel. Conduct supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws, including interview participation, training/development, assignment and direction of work, performance feedback, complaint addressing, and problem resolution.

Budget And/Or Resource Responsibilities
  • Prioritize and schedule work tasks independently.
  • Create and implement effective and efficient process management strategies (procedures, equipment, materials and supplies).
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and school system policy.
  • Review processes for improvement opportunities and make changes as needed to ensure quality of program.
Education/Training/Experience

High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Licenses Or Certifications
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License.
  • CHSAA (Colorado High School Activities Association) Certification.
  • Valid Colorado Teaching License, BOC (Board of Certification), ASEP (American Sport Education Program) Certification or equivalent.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid Certification.
