Position Summary
This position supports teachers in addressing student behavior, instructional needs, and medical or health requirements. The students in the program may require a lot of adult support with following directions, making transitions, and accessing their education. It includes assisting with clerical tasks, student supervision, and redirection. Additionally, the role involves providing feedback to teachers on individual student performance and needs. The position may involve riding the bus and providing student supervision on the bus to and from the work site during morning and afternoon bus runs.
Another key responsibility is fostering positive community relations with all stakeholders.
- Comply with Student Support Services and district policies and procedures (e.g., Medicaid documentation, accident reporting).
- Monitor and assist students as needed in their daily routines across classroom activities and/or settings.
- Assist in collecting data for behavioral or academic progress.
- Initiate and follow through with behavioral interventions as designated and demonstrated by the classroom teacher.
- Communicate with all team members in an appropriate manner regarding student progress and/or concerns.
- Participate in planning meetings regarding classroom curricular expectations as well as student needs across all developmental areas.
- Lead and/or facilitate teaching of individuals in 1:1, small group, or whole class instruction.
- Assist individual students as necessary to follow routines, follow directions, follow an individual schedule, and/or complete tasks.
- Monitor students at all times including on/off the bus, lunch, and times of transition.
- Meet students in the morning to unload buses and assist with loading or unloading as necessary.
- Assist with students requiring self-help skills in the areas of safety, eating, and toileting.
- Facilitate the teaching procedures demonstrated by the classroom teacher for small groups including errorless learning and verbal behavior techniques.
- Create materials as time allows and directed by teacher.
- Clean-up after students as necessary and at the end of the day.
- Prepare room daily for instruction in the morning or end of day as designated by teacher.
- Assist in helping a student develop necessary skills in the generalized education environment.
- Communicate any concerns to the classroom teacher regarding student performance and concerns.
- Promote a learning environment that respects the dignity of the child and is perceived by students as fair and consistent.
- Support a learning environment that establishes routines and provides for student engagement through questioning, speculation, and originality.
- Encourage a learning environment that is safe for responding and questioning, even for the shyest student.
- Assist with test administration, scoring, data entry, and report generation.
- Communicate effectively and with a professional manner with general education staff when assigned.
- Remain professional and keep student information confidential at all times.
- Establish student, staff and parental rapport that allows for a proactive response to potential problems.
- Actively participate in PLCs and other required training.
- Apply and implement knowledge, skills and new understandings to support instructional programming.
- Ride the bus to provide assistance and supervision of students.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Education/Training/ExperienceHigh school graduate or equivalent (preferred). Bilingual (preferred). English fluency will be determined through the interview process.
Licenses Or Certifications- Valid Colorado Driver’s License.
- Current First Aid and CPR (or obtained within first six months of employment).
