Overview

Connecticut GI, a division of GI Alliance, is looking for a full-time Medical Assistant to join our Enfield Care Center. We are the largest gastroenterology practice in the state of Connecticut with 30 Care Centers and growing. We have been named a Top Workplace 8 times. • Providing remarkable patient experience: rooming patients, obtaining vital signs (blood pressure, height, and weight) and documenting accurately utilizing Epic EMR.
• Attention to detail: updating patient medical history including the updated medication list.
• Team player: documents all patient phone calls and, under the direction of the provider, informs patients of test results.
• Versatility: familiarity with the prior authorization process.
• Expertise: asking appropriate triage questions when speaking with patients and accurately recording in Epic.

• Graduated from an accredited MA program (preferred).
• At least one full year of Medical Assistant experience.
• Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients, physicians and referring practices.
• Broad knowledge of medical terminology (1+ year of healthcare experience).
• EMR experience is ideal;
  Epic experience is a plus.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary:
From $18.00 per hour, depending on experience

• Education:
  
  High school diploma or GED, medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a college course in medical assisting.
• Experience:
  
  Minimum one year of recent experience in a medical facility as a medical assistant; externship in a medical office is acceptable. Gastroenterology experience is preferred.

• Entry level (1-4 years experience) with need for additional supervision.
• Excess of 4 years experience if meeting only the basic requirements with need for additional supervision.

• Knowledge of health care field and EMR systems.
• Skill in performing medical assistance tasks.
• Skill in written and verbal communications.
• Ability to understand patient education needs and effectively share information with patients and families.
• Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care practices and procedures.
• Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
