Overview
Connecticut GI, a division of GI Alliance, is looking for a full-time Medical Assistant to join our Enfield Care Center. We are the largest gastroenterology practice in the state of Connecticut with 30 Care Centers and growing. We have been named a Top Workplace 8 times. Our team works collaboratively with physicians and advanced practitioners to provide comprehensive and compassionate care.

- Providing remarkable patient experience: rooming patients, obtaining vital signs (blood pressure, height, and weight) and documenting accurately utilizing Epic EMR.
- Attention to detail: updating patient medical history including the updated medication list.
- Team player: documents all patient phone calls and, under the direction of the provider, informs patients of test results.
- Versatility: familiarity with the prior authorization process.
- Expertise: asking appropriate triage questions when speaking with patients and accurately recording in Epic.
- Graduated from an accredited MA program (preferred).
- At least one full year of Medical Assistant experience.
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients, physicians and referring practices.
- Broad knowledge of medical terminology (1+ year of healthcare experience).
- EMR experience is ideal;
Epic experience is a plus. - Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.

From $18.00 per hour, depending on experience

Education & Experience- Education:
High school diploma or GED, medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a college course in medical assisting. - Experience:
Minimum one year of recent experience in a medical facility as a medical assistant; externship in a medical office is acceptable. Gastroenterology experience is preferred.
- Entry level (1-4 years experience) with need for additional supervision.
- Excess of 4 years experience if meeting only the basic requirements with need for additional supervision.
- Knowledge of health care field and EMR systems.
- Skill in performing medical assistance tasks.
- Skill in written and verbal communications.
- Ability to understand patient education needs and effectively share information with patients and families.
- Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care practices and procedures.
- Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
