Introduction:
Are you a manufacturing professional in Connecticut who is passionate for educating the "future of the field" and looking to transform the lives of our incarcerated population? If so, we have a unique opportunity for you to consider. The State of Connecticut, Department of Correction (DOC) Unified School District #1 is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Advanced Manufacturing Instructor (Vocational Instructor) to teach the knowledge and skills required by industry through applied learning methodology and work-based learning experiences that prepare students for careers in this high-wage, high-skill and high-demand field.

In this course students also learn personal development, leadership and employability skills as an integral part of the curriculum. The program and course sequence are part of a rigorous program of study that includes sufficient technical challenge to meet state and industry-standards. We are looking for candidates who possess a high school (or equivalency) diploma and eight (8) years of employment and/or teaching experience in advanced manufacturing practices.

Responsibilities
  • Prioritize safety and security as it pertains to staff, victims, citizens, and offenders
  • Teach early intervention, elementary, secondary, special subject, and/or special education curricula
  • Develop educational plans for individuals and groups
  • Set short and long term goals and evaluate student progress
  • Participate in planning team meetings and case review conferences to assess student behavior
  • Hold conferences with parents or officials concerned with student performance
  • Relate to professionals in ancillary educational roles
  • Maintain student records and write reports
  • Model positive teaching practices
  • Other duties as identified in the class specification
Qualifications

Education
:
Candidates new to the State of Connecticut will start on ‘Step one’ of the pay plan, in the tier that their highest level of education corresponds to.
Starting salary is non-negotiable. Salary details are as follows for the pay plan (P-3B T1-T4, 35 Hour Pay Plan):
Bachelors Degree:
Step 1 minimum $68,792;
Step 11-14 maximum $104,174. Masters Degree:
Step 1 minimum $72,241;
Step 11-14 maximum $122,335. 6th Year Step 1 minimum $77,294;
Step 11-14 maximum $130,898; etc.

About Us
