Summary: Responsible for the direction of crew activities on job site, according to pre-established schedules, standards and procedures to provide a high quality of service, as directed by Arbor Foreman and Arbor District Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Understand and implement job specifications for each siteAssign daily tasks to crew members and ensure complianceLead daily stretch and flex practicesConduct and submit daily job site safety briefingSafely climb trees using hooks and belts, or demonstrate practical knowledge of climbing techniques, or climb ladder to access work areaComplete daily paperwork timely and accuratelyUpdate project progress through Arbor Note Works program twice dailyReport equipment in need of repair or maintenance to shop mechanicSupervise safe loading and unloading of equipmentDiscuss job site observations with Arbor ForemanTrim and reshape trees to achieve attractive shapes or remove low hanging branchesCable, brace, tie, bolt, stake, and guy trees and branches to provide supportCut away dead and excess branches from trees using climbing equipment or buckets of extended truck boom, and/or chainsaws, hooks, handsaws, shears, and clippersLower branches with ropes or block and tackleTransplant and remove trees and shrubs, and prepare trees for movingSafe operation of shredding and chipping equipment, including the feeding of brush and limbs into machinesSafe operation of arbor vehicles and equipment, including but not limited to: boom trucks, loaders, stump chippers, brush chippers, tractors, sprayers, power saws, chainsaws, pole pruners, backpack blowers, and hand toolsInspect trees to determine if they have disease or pest problemsClean, sharpen, and lubricate tools and equipmentShows up to work each day on time; completes all tasks within time expectations; adheres to company dress code policy; wears clean clothes to work each day; follows inclement weather policy and sick leave reporting procedures.Supervisory Responsibilities
This position supervises an Arbor crew of two to six peopleSecondary Duties and Responsibilities
Clear branches around power lines and broken wiresEducate public on work being performedOther duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education
At least two years of professional tree work experience (subject to review)Language Skills
Ability to communicate effectively with crew members and Arbor ForemanAbility to verbally understand and communicate in English is strongly preferredBi-lingual English/Spanish preferred but not requiredMathematical Skills

Valid driver license issued by state where employed is strongly preferredCurrent CPR & First Aid certification or ability to obtain within first 3 monthsCurrent aerial rescue certification or ability to obtain within first 3 monthsValid ISA Certified Tree Worker Certification, or ability to obtain within first 6 monthsTCIA Crew Leader certificate or ability to obtain within the first 6 monthsTCIA Chipper Operator Specialist certificate or ability to obtain within first 6 monthsTCIA Crane Operations Specialist certificate or ability to obtain within first 6 monthsTCIA Chainsaw Operation Specialist certificate or ability to obtain within first 6 monthsTCIA Safety Specialist certificate or ability to obtain within first 6 monthsOther knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
Basic tree care principles, pruning techniques, tree disease Tree climbing (above 15 feet), cabling, and safety proceduresSafe work practices; proper PPE; hazard recognition;
Dig Alert procedures and tree removal techniques; basic knots and rope operation for rigging; emergency tree rescue proceduresExcellent internal and external customer service skills, ensuring client needs are met in an accurate, complete, and timely fashion by demonstrating courtesy, efficiency, and professionalismPhysical Demands
