Staff Accountant

Description

Robert Half is partnering with a rapidly growing biotech firm advancing diagnostic technologies. We're seeking a curious, detail‑obsessed Staff Accountant who loves solving problems, improving processes, and collaborating across accounting, FP& A, and operations. This is a growth seat-ideal for someone who wants wider GL exposure, mentorship, and a clear path toward Senior Accountant.

What You'll Own

+ GL ownership for select entities/cost centers; prepare and post journal entries (prepaids, accruals, fixed assets, amortization)

+ Balance sheet reconciliations (cash, AR, AP, inventory, accrued expenses); resolve reconciling items proactively

+ Assist with month‑end close: schedules, flux analysis, variance commentary, and timelines

+ Partner with FP& A on budget-to-actual analysis and cost center insights

+ Support inventory accounting and standard costing in partnership with operations and supply chain

+ Prepare audit-ready supporting schedules; assist with external audit and SOX-lite internal controls

+ Contribute to process improvements-documentation, close checklists, reconciliations, and automations

+ Cross-functional work with R& D, Clinical, and Commercial teams for purchasing and accrual accuracy

Requirements

+ Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance; 1-3+ years progressive accounting experience

+ Strong Excel (INDEX/MATCH, pivots); comfort with large datasets

+ ERP experience (Net Suite preferred; SAP/Oracle a plus)

+ Familiarity with GAAP; biotech/manufacturing exposure is a plus

+ Strong ownership, clear communication, and deadline discipline
