Accounting Manager

Description

A mission-driven nonprofit organization in Encinitas is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee general ledger operations, financial reporting, and team leadership. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader with a strong understanding of nonprofit accounting and compliance. The Accounting Manager will supervise accounting staff, manage month-end close, and ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit standards.

Key Responsibilities

+ Oversee general ledger, journal entries, and reconciliations

+ Manage month-end and year-end close processes

+ Supervise and develop accounting staff

+ Prepare financial statements and management reports

+ Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting and fund restrictions

+ Coordinate external audits and tax filings

+ Support budgeting and forecasting initiatives

+ Improve accounting processes and internal controls

Requirements

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred

+ 6+ years of progressive accounting experience

+ 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role

+ Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles

+ Advanced Excel and accounting software skills

+ Strong leadership, communication, and analytical abilities

+ Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
