Junior Accountant - Nonprofit

Description

A community-focused nonprofit organization in Encinitas is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to support financial operations across multiple programs. This role is ideal for someone who values mission-driven work and wants to build a strong foundation in nonprofit accounting.

Role Overview

The Junior Accountant will assist with transactional accounting, reporting, and compliance support, gaining hands-on experience with fund accounting and nonprofit financial processes.

Key Responsibilities

+ Assist with daily accounting transactions and data entry

+ Support reconciliations of bank and general ledger accounts

+ Maintain documentation for grants and program expenses

+ Assist with financial reporting and budget tracking

+ Support audit preparation and internal reviews

+ Ensure accurate and timely recordkeeping

+ Collaborate with program and finance teams

Requirements

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

+ Internship or entry-level accounting experience preferred

+ Interest in nonprofit accounting and compliance

+ Strong organizational and documentation skills

+ Proficiency in Excel and accounting software

+ Ability to manage deadlines and work collaboratively

+ High integrity and attention to detail
