Material Handler, Manufacturing Production
This position reports to:
Manager Receiving / Receiving Supervisor / Receiving Lead
Receiving Operator 1 is responsible for the daily operations and functions in the receiving department. This position has direct responsibility to ensure that all work activities under its span of control are performed with attention to the highest standards of food quality, safe processes, compliance with all appropriate legal requirements and a focus on continuous process improvement.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Assist with the training of new receiving personnel.
- Check ingredient and packaging areas on production floor and fill as needed.
- Return empty and bad pallets to shipping.
- Check all ingredients COA’s to make sure they meet Hostess specs.
- Maintain receiving logs.
- Inspect all ingredients, packaging and the delivery vehicle for contamination and/or unsanitary conditions.
- Report any issues to Receiving Supervisor / Receiving Manager / Receiving Lead.
- Complete correct Inspection Report for all ingredients and packaging received.
- Maintain clean, sanitary conditions in all storage areas.
- Unload packaging in receiving and shipping to maintain adequate stock for production.
- Must be able to move material and operate a Forklift in a safe manner.
- Verify ingredients taken to production floor with Hostess Formula.
- Perform additional duties as directed by Receiving Supervisor / Receiving Manager / Receiving Lead.
Must pass Fork Lift written test and driver test that is given by the company.
Education And ExperienceRequires high school diploma, or equivalent. Additional post-secondary education is preferred (i.e.: Technical or Vocational education) in areas of material handling, warehouse, distribution, packaging, etc.
Previous work experience in a manufacturing warehouse and/or distribution environment is preferred.
Working ConditionsManufacturing Environment.
Physical RequirementsAbility to stand (20%), walk (70%) and bend (10%) for 12 hours. Ability to lift approximately up to a maximum of 100 pounds (sack of flour), approximately 144 times per day from ankle to chest. Ability to reach from 2 ½ feet approximately 540 times per day and up to 6 feet, approximately 72 times per day. May climb stairs and ladder.
Performs repetitive motions, using the hands/arms approximately 800 times per day and the back (twisting), approximately 720 times per day. Ability to push/pull upper body 72 times per day and whole body 10 times per day. Shortening weigh approximately 50 lbs., dry ingredients weighs 100 lbs. and barreled ingredients weigh 400 lbs. (use hoist).
Reading, writing, seeing, hearing, communicating, adding, subtracting and understanding instructions.
Machines/Tools UsedForklifts, electric and manual floor jacks, dollies, computer, pencil, markers, cardboard, bump hat, ear plugs, safety glasses and hair net.
