Bridge Estimator - Construction - Base Salary to 120k/year - Emmaus, PA
- All Search Recruiting has a construction client seeking a Bridge Estimator for their team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for bridge-related projects, drawing on our core specialties in new construction, demolition, rehabilitation, and associated heavy civil works. This position involves analyzing project plans, specifications, and site conditions to develop comprehensive bids that account for materials, labor, equipment, subs, and potential risks, ensuring alignment with budgets, timelines, and regulatory requirements.
The Bridge Estimator will collaborate with engineers, superintendents, and project managers to support bidding processes and contribute to efficient project delivery.
- Review and analyze blueprints, specifications, and project documents for bridge construction and rehabilitation projects, including cofferdams, piling, sheeting and shoring, heavy concrete work, box culverts, pumping stations, utility bridges, walkways, architectural formwork, and concrete demolition.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates by quantifying materials, labor hours, equipment needs, and subcontractor requirements, incorporating factors such as site logistics, weather impacts, constructability challenges, and regulatory compliance.
- Utilize specialized estimating software and tools to model project costs, schedules, and budgets, ensuring accurate forecasting and cost control for both public and private sector bids.
- Conduct site visits and assessments to evaluate ground conditions, access issues, and potential risks specific to bridge and heavy civil projects, such as tunnel-related concrete work or demolition activities.
- Collaborate with registered professional engineers, superintendents, and skilled tradesmen to refine estimates, address constructability concerns, and incorporate innovative technologies or equipment advances.
- Develop bid proposals that reflect proactive partnering approaches, including value engineering options to optimize costs while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Monitor industry trends, material pricing, and regulatory changes to update estimating databases and improve bid competitiveness.
- Assist in post-bid analysis, including reviewing actual costs against estimates to refine future processes and support continuous improvement in project management.
- 5+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in bridge or heavy civil projects involving specialties like cofferdams, piling, sheeting, concrete work, or demolition.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; professional engineering registration (PE) is a plus.
- Proven track record in managing estimates for projects with complex challenges, including budgets, schedules, weather, regulations, and logistics.
- Proficiency in estimating HCSS Heavy Bid, Viewpoint Vista (ERP), ASTA (scheduling) and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with industry-specific tools for bridge and heavy concrete applications.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety standards relevant to new bridge construction, demolition, rehabilitation, and associated structures.
- Base salary in the 90k - 120k/year range
