Role Overview

co Design is seeking a highly capable, self-directed Finance Manager to oversee the financial operations and strategic financial planning of the business. This role will manage both company-level and project-based financial performance, ensuring strong internal controls, accurate reporting, and disciplined forecasting.

The Finance Manager will serve as a key partner to the CFO and will provide leadership and oversight to the Internal Controller and Project Finance Manager, supporting scalable financial processes as the company continues to grow.

Vision for the Role

The Finance Manager is responsible for maintaining the financial health of the organization through strategic oversight of accounting operations, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and risk management. This leader will ensure compliance, accuracy, and clarity across all financial reporting, while also contributing to business planning, FP&A, and potential M&A-related initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Category 1 – Financial Oversight and Leadership

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to the Internal Controller and Project Finance Manager
  • Ensure consistent adherence to internal control policies and financial best practices
  • Review Accounts Payable, Payroll, and subcontract financial workflows for compliance and accuracy
  • Support development of scalable finance and accounting processes as the business expands

Category 2 – Reporting, Forecasting, and FP&A

  • Oversee management of the General Ledger and company-wide financial reporting
  • Lead monthly financial close, reconciliations, and reporting deliverables
  • Produce and review project gross profit, Work-in-Progress (WIP), and margin reporting
  • Manage cash flow planning, liquidity monitoring, and forecasting
  • Drive budgeting and forecast management across company and project portfolios
  • Support Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), including financial modeling, variance analysis, and business performance insights for leadership

Category 3 – Strategic Finance and Growth Initiatives

  • Partner with the CFO on strategic initiatives including pricing strategy, cost structure analysis, and long-term financial planning
  • Assist with M&A-related financial analysis, due diligence support, and integration planning where applicable
  • Evaluate financial risks and opportunities tied to growth, new markets, and operational expansion

Category 4 – Compliance and External Coordination

  • Coordinate insurance management and annual renewals
  • Partner with external tax accountants and advisors to ensure timely filings and compliance
  • Support new state tax registrations, licensing, and regulatory requirements as co Design expands geographically
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required
  • Strong background in finance and accounting, ideally in construction, design-build, or contract-based industries
  • Familiarity with Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting and project-based financial reporting
  • Experience managing or mentoring accounting/finance teams
  • Demonstrated ability in FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
  • Exposure to M&A activities such as due diligence, integration, or transaction support is a plus
  • Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles
  • Advanced computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel
