Role Overview :The QC Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of loan production at Newfi Lending. This individual will support the QC process by assisting with audits, reviewing findings, and delivering accurate reporting that supports continual process improvement. The QC Specialist is responsible for prefunding, random, targeted, adverse action, and vendor reviews.
RequirementsKey Responsibilities:
Prefunding Reviews
- Oversee 10% audit of closed loan volume monthly, conducted by vendor.
- Ensure audits focus solely on underwriting accuracy.
- Calculate volume based on previous month and round percentage up.
- Select 10% of monthly closed volume for QC review, rounded up.
- Coordinate with vendor for audit completion, review findings, and collaborate with responsible parties to cure errors.
- Personally conduct audits on 10% of monthly closed volume.
- Include early payment defaults (EPDs), repurchase-related files, or any specific areas requiring attention.
- Review loans flagged by management due to issues in Pre-doc QC, EPDs, repurchase requests, or other concerns.
- Conduct internal audit on 10% of vendor-completed random reviews.
- Identify and report discrepancies to vendor management.
- Review 10% of adverse action files, including Denied, Withdrawn, and Canceled loans.
- Create and maintain monthly reports on prefunding, random, discretionary, vendor, and trouble loan reviews.
- Prepare quarterly summary reports detailing error rates, audit volumes, and trends for senior management.
- Provide timely QC data and findings to Legal and stakeholders as needed.
- Update vendors on changes to Newfi’s underwriting guidelines.
- Ensure the Quality Control Plan remains accurate and compliant.
- Assist Shipping and Post-Closing departments as needed.
- Experience: 5+ years in mortgage quality control, or mortgage operations.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of Non-QM and agency guidelines, underwriting practices, and investor requirements.
- Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy and thoroughness in file reviews and error resolution.
- Analytical
Skills:
Ability to analyze QC findings, identify trends, and implement corrective actions. - Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with LOS platforms (e.g., Meridian Link), QC software, and Microsoft Excel/Word for reporting.
- Communication
Skills:
Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal, for vendor interaction and reporting. - Problem Solving: Able to work independently and collaboratively to resolve complex issues.
