Job SummaryBrillouin Energy is developing advanced clean energy systems within a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment. The Engineering Manager leads an R&D team into fabrication providing engineering execution and technical integration across electrical, mechanical, materials science, and manufacturing disciplines. This is a hands‑on, manager‑coach role focused on translating technical objectives into coordinated engineering milestones and deliverables. In partnership with the Director of Operations, this role strengthens engineering alignment, improves milestone predictability, and supports disciplined system integration as technical complexity increases.
The ideal candidate brings strong hardware systems experience, earns credibility through technical depth, and builds structured execution without unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Translate technical objectives into clear engineering work plans and measurable milestones
- Drive alignment across EE, ME, materials, and manufacturing teams
- Lead integrated design reviews and ensure system‑level decisions are documented
- Identify interdependencies and proactively manage technical risks
- Improve clarity, accountability, and follow‑through within engineering initiatives
- Participate in system architecture and integration strategy
- Maintain hands‑on engagement in prototyping, validation, and troubleshooting
- Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability standards
- Reinforce high standards of technical rigor and documentation discipline
- Align engineering execution priorities with the CEO & CTO
- Coordinate with Director of Operations to ensure engineering milestones integrate smoothly into broader company planning frameworks
- Improve engineering into manufacturing operations while supporting cross‑
- Mentor engineers and foster cross‑team collaborative, accountable behavior
- Support recruiting and onboarding of technical staff
- Encourage transparent, solution‑oriented communication across disciplines
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline (advanced degree a plus)
- 8+ years of experience in hardware or integrated systems engineering
- 3+ years leading engineering teams or cross‑disciplinary initiatives
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex hardware systems from concept through validation
- Experience coordinating electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing integration
- Strong systems thinking and ability to manage technical interdependencies
- Comfort operating in fast‑paced R&D environments with evolving priorities
- Commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
- Experience with industrial systems, advanced manufacturing, or scientific instrumentation
- Familiarity with structured milestone planning tools (e.g., MS Project or similar platforms)
- Experience improving engineering coordination in scaling organizations
