Overview
Head Cheer-leading Coach – Elyria Catholic High School.
Reports to:
Athletic Director of Elyria Catholic High School.
Position opening for the 2025-26 school year.
Qualifications- Valid driver’s license
- State of Ohio Teacher’s Certificate (preferred, not required)
- Coaching and administrative abilities
- Obtain Pupil Activity Supervision Validation
- Ability to relate to and inspire young athletes
- Knowledge of the care of and prevention of athletic injuries
- Organizational skills/resources to enhance the program
- Skill in oral presentations
- Able to get along with other coaches
- Desire to invest time during season
- Knowledge of training and conditioning techniques
- Ability to diagnose player deficiencies/prescribe corrective activities
- Current CPR Certification
- Demonstrate aptitude for successful completion of tasks assigned
- Successful completion of criminal background check (BCI/FBI) and VIRTUS Training
- Commitment to the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church and to best practices in Catholic education. Familiarity with the teachings, traditions, and policies, which apply to formation and development of high school-aged youth.
- Attend:
Athletic Boosters Club meetings;
Athletic Council meetings;
Rules Interpretation meetings;
Clinics in your sport area; actively participate in all conference, sectional, district and state level meetings and obligations. - Proper attire shall be worn during practice and games.
- Establish team rules concerning attendance, practice and training rules, and enforce them; provide copies to athletic director and athletes prior to practice.
- Publicize results, win or lose, to athletic director/assistant athletic director, student body, and news media.
- Supervise all team members before, during and after practice and games.
- Assist in planning schedules, transportation, officials and setup for home games.
- Correspond with college coaches who are interested in any of our players as potential collegiate student athletes.
- Submit awards list to athletic director; secure all league, local, district and state awards and submit them.
- Coordinate the total interscholastic bowling program for Elyria Catholic.
- Assist in scheduling the non-conference games for varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams.
- Ensure OHSAA tournament games take precedence, then conference games, and thirdly non-conference games; reschedule non-conference games only if feasible for both schools.
- Assist in obtaining assistant coaching positions.
- Selecting a squad will be the final decision of the coach or coaches.
- Be responsible for the Athletic Handbook information and ensure assistants are aware of it.
- Be responsible for distribution and collection of all uniforms and equipment; inform athletic director if difficulties arise.
- Carry required emergency forms for all players, scorekeepers and managers for practices and games.
- Responsible for physical cards, emergency medical authorization forms and code of conduct for all players in your program.
- Provide the athletic director with a roster of all student athletes by the end of the first week of practice and communicate roster updates as needed.
- Conduct oneself professionally; promote positive conduct by players and spectators; teach by example.
- Organize practices, off-season workouts and conduct staff meetings.
- Evaluate coaches and make recommendations for the next year.
- Complete any entry forms or materials needed for team eligibility.
- Outline skills to be mastered at each grade level; delegate responsibilities to coaches; advise lower-level coaches as needed.
- Inform participants of safety precautions and teach proper skills to reduce injury risk; check equipment for safety.
- Responsible for all equipment including storage and inventory.
- Assist athletic director in preparing the budget.
- Responsible for filming, keeping statistics and submitting records to the athletic director at year end.
- Responsible for reporting and care of all injuries.
- Serve as a role model for students in citizenship and personal integrity.
- Help instill ethical principles and democratic values.
- Conduct other coaching duties as assigned by the athletic director or principal as permitted by the negotiated agreement.
