Position: Med-Surg Nurse (RN) in Elyria, OH
This opportunity is for an experienced Registered Nurse to provide expert patient care on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Stepdown unit. The role focuses on delivering high-quality nursing services to adult patients with orthopedic, neurological, and telemetry needs in a 29-bed setting. Candidates must hold a current RN license and demonstrate strong clinical skills including dysrhythmia monitoring, medication administration, and patient assessment in complex cases.

Key

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years RN experience; acute care experience preferred
• Current RN license valid in the practicing state or under compact agreement
• Dysrhythmia certification required (study guide available)
• BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke certification preferred
• Experience with insulin drips and telemetry monitoring
• Strong clinical judgment, patient advocacy, and communication skills
• Proficiency with electronic health records, EPIC preferred

Primary Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments and prioritize patient needs
• Administer medications safely in accordance with policies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team for coordinated care
• Monitor telemetry strips and manage drips such as Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin
• Support patients and families through education and emotional support
• Maintain patient safety and participate in quality improvement initiatives
• Adhere to professional nursing practice standards and ethical guidelines

Work Details:

• 12-hour evening shifts covering every other weekend and holiday
• Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:5-6 depending on acuity
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Contract position open to non-local candidates only
