Youth Development
Our F.A.M.I.L.Y. (Fathers and Mothers Involving Local Youth) develops programs to empower struggling families to improve their quality of life. We develop programs for public schools, libraries, and even barber shops to grow appetites for learning. We sponsor science contests and community gardens that teach persons of any age how to grow food and invent something useful. We also make sure they have healthy food for their families through our Summer Food Program and our mobile market delivery service.
All of these activities bring people to us to learn about opportunities to improve their own future. Our partner agencies offer assistance with job training, utility bills, and legal difficulties. We are the conduit families travel through to a brighter future. We want to expand that conduit so more families can follow their dreams to a life without hunger or financial instability.

Member DutiesAs our VISTA member, you will focus on areas of growth for Our F.A.M.I.L.Y. to better serve the Oberlin and Elyria residents who struggle to provide for their family's basic food needs. You will refine communication between staff, volunteers, and food insecure households on priorities to ensure their voices are heard in discussions of better systems for meeting their current and future food security goals.
In this role, you will lead the recruitment and training of volunteers, creating media tools to engage more voices in shaping the direction of Our F.A.M.I.L.Y programs. Ultimately, you will drive innovation through the strategic evaluation of performance data and program results. Join our team today!
