The Electronics & Instrumentation Technician plays a vital role on our Maintenance team, ensuring safe, reliable, and accurate operation of instrumentation, electrical systems, and control equipment used throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instrumentation
- Repair low‑voltage circuits, motors, relays, protective devices, and lighting equipment
- Calibrate analytical devices, including LEL detectors, gas monitoring equipment, pH, conductivity, pressure, and flow instruments
- Trace and test instruments using loop drawings, schematics, and test equipment
- Remove, clean, repair, and replace defective instruments and components
- Program transmitters and single‑loop controllers; adjust control valves and analog devices
- Troubleshoot 24 VDC loop‑powered devices, discrete and analog signals, and 4–20 mA loops
- Create and update loop drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Read and interpret loop sheets, P&IDs, and installation drawings
- Perform preventive maintenance and update work orders in the CMMS
- Support mechanical equipment repair and installation
- Assist with PLC/DCS I/O‑related work
- Install, set up, commission, and upgrade instrumentation systems and associated controls
- Maintain a proactive safety mindset and comply with all safety procedures
- Follow lockout/tagout, PPE requirements, and safe work practices
- Perform calibrations according to standards and manufacturer guidelines
- Certification in Instrumentation or Instrumentation/Control Apprenticeship preferred
- Electrical apprenticeship or trade school training a plus
- 1–3 years of industrial maintenance experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Willingness to work overtime and participate in on‑call rotation
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and safely perform physical tasks (climbing, kneeling, bending, reaching)
- PLC and HMI experience
- Knowledge of programmable logic controllers and distributed control systems
- Experience with hazardous‑location equipment
- Industrial plant setting with exposure to electrical systems, instrumentation, chemicals, and process equipment. Work may involve heights, confined spaces, and varied physical activity.
