Responsibilities- Complete assigned tasks within a suitable timeframe, demonstrating flexibility to workload fluctuations.
- Select and operate the magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results.
- Apply principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
- Properly position the patient on the MRI scanning cradle, input patient information, select scan parameters, perform scans according to protocol and physician request, perform IV injections, administer contrast agents, manipulate images, perform quality assurance tests, and maintain clinical competency.
- Evaluate the patient, verify patient related information, explain procedure, obtain and record patient history and consent, screen for metal safety, ensure patient comfort, monitor condition, troubleshoot equipment, and report malfunctions.
- Participate in the education and orientation of students and new staff.
- Participate in performance improvement projects and assist the department in audits.
- Select appropriate pulse sequences considering established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition.
- Maintain controlled access to the magnet room and Zones 2, 3 and 4.
- Oversee quality control duties and maintenance of quality control.
- Work closely with other modalities and departments.
- Certification and registration with ARRT in Diagnostic Radiology with Advanced MRI Registry (MR), within one year of hire.
- BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (required upon hire, obtain before direct patient care).
Associate’s degree from an ARRT accredited institute (preferred).
Work Experience1 year of experience in an MRI department in a hospital setting (preferred).
Training- EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred).
- Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) (preferred).
