Overview
Mercy Health is a faith‑based and patient‑focused organization. This role supports the daily operations of the radiation therapy treatment area under the guidance of the Radiation Oncologist, Physicist, and Manager to deliver high‑quality care and services.
Shift/Schedule- Full Time - Scheduled for 40 Weekly Hours
- Shift Times - Days
- Weekend/Holiday Availability - As Required
This position directs the daily operations of the treatment area to ensure quality patient care and promote radiation therapy standards and safety. The Radiation Therapist actively participates in patient care and assists in planning services to achieve hospital objectives.
Essential Job Functions- Sets up treatment rooms, devices, and parameters as ordered by the Radiation Oncologist.
- Identifies patients and monitors them during treatment.
- Reinforces instructions and maintains patient markings.
- Positions patients according to prescriptions, requiring physical effort and mental application.
- Coordinates treatment area activities and scheduling.
- Documents thoroughly in treatment records.
- Performs simulations, brachytherapy procedures, and daily quality checks on equipment.
- Maintains equipment, reports problems, and observes radiation safety practices.
- Assists in treatment device changes and follows instructions from Radiation Oncologists.
- Performs ancillary duties, such as filing, answering phones, and monitoring supplies.

- License in State of practice in Radiation Oncology (required)
- Radiation Oncology Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (required)
- CPR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification (required)
- 1 year Experience in Radiation Therapy and CT Simulation (preferred)
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on the assigned unit:
Adults (18‑64 years) and Geriatrics (65 years and older).
- Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
- May be exposed to high noise levels, bright lights, limited hazardous substances or body fluids, and potentially infectious materials.
- Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment, and follow infection control policies.
