Small Format Team Leader – Target

Pay Range (per hour): $26.00 – $44.20

About Small FormatsThe Small Format team ensures that every display is stocked, accurately priced and well presented. As a leader, you’ll coach staff, manage inventory, drive safety and guest engagement, and set a high standard of store excellence.
Responsibilities- Understand sales goals, plan daily/weekly workload, and execute to deliver on store and department sales goals.
- Plan merchandising, pricing workload, and make changes to sales‑floor displays, sales plans and promotions.
- Demonstrate a guest‑service culture that prioritizes the guest experience and model, train and coach staff to meet service standards.
- Ensure product is in stock, available, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor.
- Maintain stock levels, inventory accuracy, and execute product arrangement, pricing and promotional signing processes.
- Assign daily tasks to team members based on workload and guest traffic patterns.
- Work a schedule that aligns with guest and business needs, including early morning, evening, overnight shifts and weekends.
- Lead team members on the backroom and sales floor, review all reporting to identify gaps, and develop a plan to resolve them.
- Lead pick, pack and ship fulfillment work where applicable.
- Evaluate candidates, develop a guest‑centric team, and support onboarding and learning.
- Establish clear goals and expectations and hold staff accountable.
- Practice inclusivity and equity, creating equitable experiences for guests and team members.
- Lead a culture of safety, identifying hazards, modeling safe behaviors and reporting incidents.
- Model physical security processes to enhance the store security culture.
- Support merchandise protection strategies and apply best practices.
- Support additional roles such as backup cashier, order pick up, drive‑up and compliance with alcohol laws.
- Offer a welcoming experience by greeting guests, engaging with them, listening and solving their needs.
- Thank guests and reinforce positive brand experience.
- Perform additional duties as needed based on business priorities.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous retail experience preferred; not required.
- Strong leadership foundation: interview, coach, evaluate, and retain talent.
- Effective communication skills – verbal and written.
- Strong customer‑service orientation and adaptability in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, prioritize tasks and manage workload.
- Proficiency with technology tools and handheld scanners.
- Physical ability to lift up to 44 lb., climb ladders, and respond in varied weather conditions.
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Access all store areas, handle cash registers, and operate safety equipment.
