Position Overview
Davey Resource Group Inc. (DRG) is seeking an Environmental Technician to support natural resource stewardship projects across the Midwest. The role involves invasive plant control, native plant installation, habitat restoration, and prescribed burning, with a mix of field work and equipment operation. The position is full‑time and adjusts workload based on weather and project demands. Candidates will work outdoors in rugged terrain, often in inclement weather, and may use heavy equipment such as spray rigs, backpack sprayers, augers, and chain saws.
Job DutiesCollaborate with a team to manage invasive plant species control and native plant restoration. Perform stream bank, lake shore, ravine, and bluff stabilization tasks. Conduct prescribed burning and other habitat restoration activities. Operate spray rigs, backpack sprayers, augers, chain saws, and other field equipment. Adapt to changing weather conditions and field terrain while maintaining safety and attention to detail.
Qualifications- Illinois Department of Agriculture Certified Pesticide Applicators License (required). Prescribed burn experience and S130/S190 certification are preferred.
- Native plant identification skills and training in chain saw, brush saw, and 4x4 ATV/UTV are beneficial.
- A degree in biology, botany, ecology, conservation, environmental science, or related fields is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applications.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; must report directly to the work site.
- Team‑oriented, excellent written and oral communication skills, professional work ethic, and safety awareness.
Starting Pay Range: $18.00–$19.00 per hour. Full‑time position, starting date to be determined. Pre‑employment drug screen and E‑Verify Social Security verification required. Davey Resource Group Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
