Description:
York Community High School is seeking school counseling interns for the 2026-27 school year. This full-year internship gives school counseling students the opportunity to gain experience working with students in a wide variety of settings and situations, as well as exposure to school-wide systems of support.

Interns will work with a primary site supervisor to gain exposure in the following settings;
  • Coordinating the implementation of tiered interventions for students based on York's MTSS framework.
  • Leading small group interventions for academic and social-emotional concerns.
  • Providing individual counseling to students across academic, social-emotional, and post-secondary planning domains.
  • Co-facilitates workshops and classroom lessons on the counseling curriculum.
  • Assists school counselors in the development and maintenance of an effective school counseling program consistent with the school's mission.
  • Reviews school data for evidence that the school counseling program is meeting the academic, social/emotional, and postsecondary needs of all students.
  • Interprets student data and initiates related student programs.
  • Supports teacher/parent communication and community involvement.
  • Assists students in conflict resolution.
  • Refers students to intervention/remediation programs, as well as academic and alternative programs, to ensure academic success and personal well-being.
  • Refers students to appropriate school personnel and community agencies.
  • Attend meetings (i.e., problem-solving, IEP, and 504 meetings).
  • Participates in parent/teacher conferences.
  • Serves as a resource for school personnel and parents.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Concurrent Enrollment in a certified school counseling education program.
