Assistant Instructor, Spring Break Art Camp

Spring Art Camp Assistant Instructor

The Elmhurst Art Museum seeks seasonal, part-time camp assistant instructors for our exciting Spring Art Camp. This is a terrific opportunity for dynamic, high-energy applicants who are interested in K-12 education, visual art, or museum education. This position is contract-based with an hourly rate of $20/hr.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with children or families
  • Art enthusiast - while previous art-making experience is preferred, it isn’t required
  • Ability to follow detailed directions and a willingness to jump in and help instructors
  • A prompt, professional, and collaborative manner
  • Availability on all of the following dates:
    • March 30 - April 3 from 9:00am-3:00pm
    • Planning, preparation, and team staff meeting before March 30, date TBD.
  • Background check prior to the start of the contract are required.

Duties:

  • Prepare and organize art materials as instructed
  • Supervise campers and maintain a safe, inclusive environment at camp
  • Help campers (ages 5 - 12 years old) engage in programs and activities
  • Follow and execute activities according to the direction of EAM Instructors and Staff
  • Display a positive and respectful attitude while acting as a role model
  • Facilitate and lead warm-up and wrap-up activities as needed by lead instructors
  • Interact with campers and adults in a professional and courteous manner
  • Communicate effectively and show integrity as a museum representative both on and off site
  • Follow procedures and expectations as outlines by EAM Instructors and Staff
  • Maintaining a clean environment
  • Act as a substitute lead instructor if the lead instructor is absent
  • A paragraph of introduction describing your interest in the role and relevant experience
