Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a compact or ME license and at least one year of ICU experience for a 13-week day shift assignment.
Responsibilities- Work in a mixed acuity ICU with 9 beds in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes vents, sepsis, PNA, DKA, detox, CHF, COPD exacerbations, surgical complications, and rare overnight pediatric post-surgical cases
- Typical patient ratio is 1:3 based on acuity
- Shifts are 12 hours, 7A-7P, with weekend rotation every other weekend
- May float to Med Surg (ratios 1:5 days/1:6 nights) or ED for supportive tasks
- Uses Cerner for charting
- Duties include management of a varied critical care and med-surg patient population
- Support provided by charge RN, 24/7 RT and hospitalist, intensivist on consult, and centralized tele monitoring tech
- General and unit-specific orientation provided, including online modules and one shift of charge training if applicable
- Scrub color is flexible but must be professional
- Free parking is available on site
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Active compact or Maine RN license required
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience, with at least 1 year in ICU
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Experience with chest tubes, traches, drains, wound vacs, IVs, PCAs, epidurals (rare), CVP, A-line care and blood draws, insulin and cardiac gtts, and strip reading/interpretation
- Charge RN experience highly preferred or willingness to be trained as Charge during contract
- Must not have previously worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity
- Permanent address must be 100+ miles South/Southwest of Bangor, ME (489 State St.) for consideration
- Seasonal flu vaccination required for start dates after 9/30/2024, with only medical exemptions considered
