A specialist SEMH school in Ellesmere Port is looking for a dedicated and energetic Sports Coach to support primary and secondary pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This is a full-time, long-term position with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

The Role

As a Sports Coach, you will work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to deliver structured, active sessions that help pupils develop resilience, focus, and social skills. Many of the pupils benefit from sport as a way to channel energy positively, improve behaviour, and learn teamwork

The successful Sports Coach will create a challenging but supportive environment where pupils can thrive and build confidence in both PE and daily school routines.

Key Responsibilities

Delivering high-energy sports and physical activities as a Sports Coach
Supporting primary and secondary pupils during PE and active learning sessions
Using sport to promote positive behaviour, teamwork, and emotional regulation
Providing one-to-one and small group support during PE lessons as a Sports Coach
Supporting pupils during transitions and unstructured times such as breaks
Inspiring pupils to take on challenges and develop resilience through sport

About You

The school is looking for a Sports Coach who:

Is energetic, confident, and emotionally resilient
Can act as a strong role model for pupils
Has experience working with children or young people (desirable)
Can build positive relationships and motivate pupils through teamwork
Is passionate about using sport to make a difference in a school setting
