Cheshire West and Chester Council is recruiting a committed, resilient and experienced Supervising Social Worker to join their Connected People's Fostering Team, based at The Portal, Ellesmere Port, on a locum basis.

You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality, timely assessments while keeping children's safety, permanence and wellbeing at the heart of your practice.

The Role

Working as an integral member of the Connected People's (Family & Friends) Team

Undertaking detailed assessments of family and friends carers, including Special Guardians

Completing robust, court-directed assessments within required timescales

Contributing to care proceedings and permanence planning for children

Providing professional supervision and support to connected carers

Ensuring all assessments and reports are clear, analytical and evidence-based

Travel may be required, including out-of-county visits and occasional overnight stays

What You'll Need

Qualified Social Worker with relevant post-qualified experience

Strong background in Connected People / Family & Friends / Fostering or Permanence work

Sound understanding of court processes, care proceedings and permanence options

Ability to produce high-quality assessments under court timescales

Resilient, organised and confident working autonomously

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Flexibility to travel as required
