Bakery​/Deli Clerk

Base Pay Range

$16.91/hr - $19.71/hr

Deliver exceptional customer service as a Grocery/Bakery‑Deli Clerk, maintaining a safe and clean environment, supporting the department manager to reach sales and profit goals, and upholding Fred Meyer’s core values.

• Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products that are ordered and properly portioned.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Use equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens, and other kitchen appliances according to company guidelines.
• Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes.
• Adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
• Check product quality for freshness and review sell‑by dates.
• Properly use all kitchen equipment, such as stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe, etc.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand the store’s layout and locate products on customer request.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Gain and maintain product knowledge and respond to customer inquiries with suggestions.
• Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and logs are kept.
• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that welcomes customers and answers product questions.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting needed repairs.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Work cooperatively in a high‑paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
