DescriptionDeliver exceptional customer service as a Grocery/Bakery‑Deli Clerk, maintaining a safe and clean environment, supporting the department manager to reach sales and profit goals, and upholding Fred Meyer’s core values.
Essential Job Functions- Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
- Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
- Provide customers with fresh products that are ordered and properly portioned.
- Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Use equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens, and other kitchen appliances according to company guidelines.
- Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
- Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes.
- Adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
- Check product quality for freshness and review sell‑by dates.
- Properly use all kitchen equipment, such as stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe, etc.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Understand the store’s layout and locate products on customer request.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Gain and maintain product knowledge and respond to customer inquiries with suggestions.
- Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and logs are kept.
- Promote trust and respect among associates.
- Create an environment that welcomes customers and answers product questions.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting needed repairs.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Work cooperatively in a high‑paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict in a nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
- Provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
