Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanic with a strong background in the mining industry to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty mining equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety on site.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of mining equipment, specifically Boart Longyear and Epiroc Drill Rigs.
- Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical faults and perform necessary repairs.
- Conduct detailed inspections to meet company, OEM, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records using maintenance management systems.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety policies, environmental regulations, and site standards.
- Collaborate with other maintenance personnel and departments to improve equipment reliability and uptime.
- Train and mentor apprentices or junior mechanics as needed.
- 3+ years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, preferably within the mining or drilling sector.
- Certification in Heavy Equipment Technology or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems in Epiroc and Boart Longyear drill rig equipment.
- Proven ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance systems and diagnostic tools.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to operate service vehicles and equipment.
- Excellent troubleshooting, time management, and communication skills.
- Physically fit and capable of working in remote or rugged environments.
- Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
- Certifications in OEM training (such as Boart, Epiroc)
- Experience in surface or open-pit mining
- Possess and care for necessary personal tools
- Keep MSHA certification up to date if required for the work area
- Willingness to travel to remote sites as needed
Availability for overtime work when necessary (e.g., 20/10 schedule) - Strong communication abilities
- High School diploma or GED required
- Must hold a valid driver's license
- Proficient in English (speaking, reading, understanding, writing).
