Field Service Diesel Technician

* Job Summary:

* Technical specialist and primary customer support contact to diagnose and execute complex repairs to engine products at the customer's site.

We are looking for a talented Field Service Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution business in (Elko, NV).

Will make an impact in the following ways:

+ Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop

+ Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools

+ Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles

+ Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies

+ Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products

+ Maintain own tools

** RESPONSIBILITIES*
* In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

+ Completes complex internal engine repairs

+ Performs complex unassisted engine overhauls

+ Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools

+ Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components

+ Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation

** QUALIFICATIONS*
* + Active daily participation in safety processes

+ Thorough documentation of repairs including recording unit information and detailed repair/troubleshooting steps as necessary

+ Working nonstandard shifts occasionally in support of business needs(nights/weekends)

+ Timely submission of service documentation.

+ Working rotating shift schedules in support of mining customer

+ Frequent communication with customers and supervisors when working remotely

+ Independent management/reconciliation of compony issues credit cards

+ Proactive scheduling of PTO/time off

+  Flexibility in short notice scheduling changes including out-of-down assignments

+ Attention to clean work habits at the end of shift and throughout the shift

+ Complying with federal DOT laws while operating company vehicles - including ELD devices

+ Professionally communicating/representing Cummins to the customer

+ Complying with management directives as needed in support of business operations.

-    A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire

-    Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older

-    A current valid license is required for this role

-    This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations

-    This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).    3 years driving experience

-    This role is subject to Department of Transportation  regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use

-Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age

Certifications:

* Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)

Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution

Locally valid driving permit

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

* Significant field service work experience

Expert level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Customer service experience

Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)
