Full-time Medical Technologist Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Technologist to join our dynamic laboratory team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy in laboratory testing.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field
- ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certification
- Nevada General Supervisor Lab license
- 3-7 years of work experience in a clinical laboratory setting
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment, and safety protocols
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in computer applications and laboratory information systems
1. Laboratory Testing and Analysis
- Perform a wide range of complex laboratory tests and procedures in areas such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and serology
- Analyze and interpret test results, ensuring accuracy and reliability
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot sophisticated laboratory equipment and instruments
- Conduct quality control procedures and participate in proficiency testing programs
- Identify and report critical values and abnormal results to appropriate healthcare providers
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all tests performed and results obtained
- Adhere to all laboratory policies, procedures, and safety protocols
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including CLIA standards
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and accreditation processes
- Assist in the development and implementation of new testing procedures and methodologies
- Contribute to the maintenance of laboratory certifications and licenses
- Collect, process, and analyze various types of biological specimens
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of specimens and hazardous materials
- Maintain chain of custody for forensic and legal specimens
- Evaluate specimen quality and reject unsuitable samples when necessary
- Enter test results and patient information into laboratory information systems
- Generate and review laboratory reports for accuracy and completeness
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
- Assist in the compilation and analysis of laboratory statistics and performance metrics
- Interact professionally with healthcare providers, patients, and other laboratory staff
- Provide technical expertise and consultation to physicians and other healthcare professionals
- Participate in interdepartmental meetings and committees as required
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues regarding workflow issues, equipment malfunctions, or other concerns
