This is a temporary appointment. Appointment to this position will not convey permanent status and will be for a period not-to-exceed 1039 hours in a service year.

We expect to fill four (4) vacancies at this time.

(Park Ranger) These are not law enforcement positions.

• Assists in posting daily weather, flash flood, and road conditions for the safety of visitors, and assists higher-graded employees in closing areas when conditions warrant.
• Assists in gathering and analyzing data related to existing recreational resources to recognize prominent trends. Selects and organizes material to fit the purposes of an interpretive program and the type of group for which it is intended
• Advises visitors concerning safety, fire prevention, amenities available, and proper and authorized uses of recreational facilities. Prepares recreation areas/sites for visitor use, to include planning, operation, and required maintenance.
• Presents a variety of formal and interpretive programs to include but not limited to, orientation talks, environmental education programs, conducted walks, demonstrations, and campfire programs.
• Provides applicants information on issuance of permits; takes initial application for permit; informs permit holders of action required to correct minor violations of permits and reports major violations to supervisor.
