Position Description

The Bulk Buyer is responsible for the procurement and management of bulk commodities required for mine operations, ensuring a consistent, reliable, and cost‑effective supply in line with the NGM Mine Site SOP for bulk management. This role requires close collaboration with the Supply Chain team, End Users, Vendors, and Finance to maintain accurate forecasts, execute procurement processes, and ensure compliance with internal and external agreements.

The Bulk Buyer also processes purchase orders for transportation, logistics and smaller services, ensuring adherence to agreements and optimization of price, delivery, and terms. This is a procurement supply chain position that works as part of a team, under supervision, following established purchasing policies and procedures to support near‑mine or in‑mine facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Manage procurement of bulk materials, logistics, and services by issuing and maintaining purchase orders aligned with forecasts, contracts, and operational needs.
  • Partner with internal teams (Supply Chain, Contracts, Finance, and Operations) to ensure accurate demand planning, pricing, consumption, and inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on pricing, delivery schedules, transportation methods, and performance, resolving issues and escalating when needed.
  • Track orders end‑to‑end, including expediting deliveries, reconciling receipts, and supporting payment through ERP systems.
  • Support sourcing activities, supplier onboarding, and relationship management to ensure reliable supply, cost effectiveness, and service quality.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, reports, and documentation while ensuring compliance with company policies, SOPs, and HS&E standards.
  • Contribute to procurement strategy, cost‑savings initiatives, and continuous improvement of purchasing processes.
  • Provide responsive support to the business, including availability for after‑hours or emergency procurement as required.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in procurement or inventory management, preferably in mining, bulk materials, or industrial commodities.
  • Experience with SAP (S4/HANA), Ariba, e‑Tank, Xeras, and One Stream is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of transportation and logistics procurement processes.
  • Ability to analyze consumption trends and reconcile inventory.
  • Basic understanding of contract negotiation and supplier management.
  • Familiarity with fundamental concepts, practices, and processes in Procurement.
  • Critical thinking and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook).
