The Distribution Floater plays a critical role in supporting all Distribution functions by ensuring accurate and timely receiving, efficient material flow, and flexible reinforcement across shipping, inventory, and material handling activities. This role’s primary focus is Receiving
: unloading, checking, labeling, and entering product into the ERP system with a high level of accuracy.
Once Receiving tasks are complete, the Distribution Floater is expected to assist across all other Distribution areas
—including shipping preparation, inventory transactions, cycle counts, container loading/unloading, material movement, deliveries (as needed), and general warehouse support—to maintain smooth operations and meet daily production and shipping goals.
- Basic math skills
- Basic computer skills (MS Office 365; ERP Proficiency a plus)
- Ability to lift 50 pounds

- Cross-training mindset – willingness to learn receiving, shipping, inventory, material handling, etc.

- Primary function:
Receiving- Unload incoming trucks, containers, and small package carriers
- Verify product accuracy, quantities, and condition
- Correctly label all incoming product using Excel or ERP-generated labels
- Receive product into ERP system with accuracy
- Identify and store materials in proper warehouse locations
- Understand product flow and prioritize materials needed for backorders
- Coordinate discrepancies with purchasing and Inventory Control
- Maintain a clean and safe receiving area
- Secondary function:
Distribution Support- Shipping Support
- Match parts to jobs and customer orders
- Post jobs and print packing slips
- Package parts neatly and safely using approved materials
- Prepare shipments for deliveries
- Create and process bill of ladings
- Prepare freight for pickup
- Pull bought-out items for orders
- Inventory Support
- Assist with physical and digital inventory movements
- Support inventory accuracy initiatives
- Assist with container unloading and put-away
- Maintain warehouse organization and follow FIFO/Kanban guidelines
- Shipping Support
- Move materials between production, receiving, and shipping as needed
- Support urgent internal requests for materials or job postings
- Follow all requirements to support Vista Quality Objectives
