Job Summary
The Laborer Flex position supports the maintenance and upkeep of City-owned public buildings, grounds, and facilities. This role provides operational support to the Public Buildings & Grounds Department and requires flexibility in scheduling to meet seasonal and departmental needs. The position may require work on weekends and holidays during peak seasons.

- Operate power and hand tools, including weed eaters, edgers, blowers, and other ground maintenance equipment.
- Assist Buildings & Grounds maintenance staff with routine daily maintenance activities.
- Perform basic groundskeeping tasks to support the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of City facilities and properties.
- Maintain assigned equipment and tools in safe working condition.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Crew Leader and/or Public Buildings & Grounds Department Head.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Basic verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Requires significant physical activity including lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
- Requires frequent use of upper body and back strength.
- Body agility and balance are essential.
- Vision requirements (with or without correction): clear vision at arm’s length and distances up to 100 feet, with strong depth perception and peripheral awareness.
Work is performed indoors and outdoors year-round. The position involves exposure to extreme temperatures ranging from summer heat exceeding 95 degrees to winter temperatures as low as
-10 degrees. The work environment includes exposure to dirt, dust, snow, rain, noise, equipment vibration, and potentially hazardous chemicals.

- Background checks producing acceptable BMV and criminal history reports required.
