Position SummaryThe Production Lead – Paint is responsible for coordinating daily operations in the dip shop, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency standards are met. This role supports the Production Supervisor by overseeing and helping lead a team of direct labor associates in the manufacture and assembly of products, components and parts for custom Class B RV’s and Luxury Vehicles. Leading, coaching, and motivating team members to meet the expectations of the business unit concerning:
Safety, Team work, Quality, Production, Cost, and 5S using lean practices are required. They must also maintain tidy work areas and follow detailed instructions in order to meet safety and quality requirements.
- Paint Shop Area Oversight
- Coordinate daily dip shop activities
- Verify correct parts, tools, and materials are available for each unit before start of work.
- Monitor production flow to identify and address bottlenecks or rework issues.
- Lead, coach, and support production employees assigned to the dip shop.
- Train new and existing employees on proper assembly techniques, safety protocols, and quality checks.
- Act as the primary point of contact for employees regarding technical questions and day-to-day concerns.
- Safety & Quality
- Enforce compliance with safety requirements including lockout/tagout, PPE, and ergonomic practices.
- Ensure components meet engineering specifications and quality standards before moving to the next station.
- Partner with Quality and Engineering teams to resolve defects or process deviations quickly.
- Assist in developing and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Provide input on tooling, jigs, and equipment needed for mill room operations.
- Track and report daily performance metrics, including safety, quality, and output.
- Communication
- Lead daily huddles in the mill room area to communicate expectations, safety reminders, and production goals.
- Report progress, challenges, and workforce needs to the Production Supervisor.
- Coordinating with upstream and downstream leads to maintain smooth workflow across departments.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or trade school preferred.
- 2–3 years of experience in automotive, RV, or specialty vehicle assembly; prior lead or trainer experience strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve production or quality issues.
- Ability to stand, walk, and work on the production floor for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and perform tasks requiring bending, reaching, and repetitive motion.
