Overview
Cardiac Sonographer role at Beacon Health System. Sign on bonus $10,000. Reports to Director. Under general supervision of performing physician, performs cardiac ultrasound, non-invasive diagnostic studies of the heart and/or other related studies.
Responsibilities- Conduct Echocardiograms and related education.
- Proficiently perform all types of echo cardiographic procedures including M-mode, 2-D, Doppler, Color flow, and Stress Echo on adults and children.
- Prepare data for physician interpretation.
- Maintain daily logbook and ensure Echo reports are entered in Vericis (or other software used) prior to physician read.
- Keep patient records on file to allow comparison with current Echo findings.
- Monitor stock supplies, keep rooms and department areas neat and orderly, and perform QA checks as directed.
- Select appropriate data for measurement and analysis; present data to the physician for interpretation; participate in physician interpretation or reading sessions.
- Report life-threatening findings promptly and communicate interpreted findings to the ordering physician when necessary.
- Respond to emergency situations as directed and participate in team briefs, debriefs, and huddles to improve communication and patient care.
- Maintain current ARDMS or CCI registry status; maintain current BLS; complete required skills validation and online learning.
- Attend required staff meetings, mandatory in-services, and departmental education within established time frames.
- RDCS or RCS required; if new graduate, must obtain within 2 years of graduation.
- CPR certification required; 1–2 years of job-related experience preferred.
- Proficiently performed all types of adult and pediatric echocardiograms in a busy Echo Lab; highly preferred.
- Knowledge of general anatomy and physiology, ultrasound principles, medical terminology, and cardiac pathology; ability to interpret and report findings accurately.
- Must be able to transport ultrasound equipment to the patient’s bedside and position patients properly; good visual and color Doppler assessment abilities; strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Normal to varied hours; duties may require coverage for team members or shifts as requested by Manager/Director.
- Physical ability to walk/stand for prolonged periods; push carts/wheelchairs up to 50 pounds; assist with patient positioning; CPR may be required.
- Comply with organizational requirements including department meetings, mandatory education, annual competencies, health requirements, license/certification in good standing, and universal precautions.

- Maintain active registry status for ARDMS or CCI; maintain current BLS and required certifications; participate in councils, committees, and process improvement activities.
