Overview
ACTIA Corporation has been manufacturing quality vehicle electronics and diagnostic equipment for growing markets such as Off-Highway, Bus & Coach, Truck & Fleet, Marine and Specialty Vehicles for over 30 years. ACTIA Group is an international group based in Toulouse, France. We are currently looking for a Wire Harness Engineer to join our team in Elkhart, IN. The Wire Harness Engineer works as a member of the Engineering team to assist all departments in producing a smooth, efficient flow of quality work through the company.
This position requires someone with a proven track record for completing projects on time and on budget, demonstrating initiative and leadership skills, and working well with other departments. Formal training or considerable experience in the electronic products market is expected.
- Wire Harness design: selecting components, prototyping, and producing manufacturing drawings.
- Assure product capability and quality by designing electrical testing methods, testing finished products and system capabilities.
- Delegate and oversee work related to wire harness costing, design, and manufacture.
- Product Development: develop products by studying applicable standards and assisting in defining customer requirements.
- Electrical knowledge sufficient to calculate voltage drops, choose wire gauges, and make related design decisions.
- Documentation: produce design and production documentation including schematics, boarding drawings, and splice and termination sheets.
- Prepare reports on wire harnesses and electrical systems by conducting research programs and applying knowledge of electricity and materials.
- Maintain time records and project reports.
- Manufacturing: research and test manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; develop manufacturing processes by designing/modifying equipment for building and assembling wire harness and electrical components.
- Collaboration:
train and guide technicians and engineers; mentor team members and others; contribute to process improvement initiatives. - Legal Compliance: ensure compliance with state, federal and OSHA requirements; ensure ISO procedures are followed; maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Movement: occasional movement inside the office and on the production floor; frequent reaching with hands and arms; occasional standing, walking, and use of hands to handle objects and controls.
- Operate/Use: ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
- Vision: close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ascend/Descend: rare use of stairs to reach archived files.
- Communication: frequently communicates with co-workers, managers and supervisors; able to exchange accurate information.
- Transport: ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds frequently, up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Work Environment: occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock and moving mechanical parts; noise level usually quiet.
- Travel: occasional travel to customers and vendors, with overnight stays, may be required.
Minimum Qualifications and Education
- Associates Degree or higher (Bachelor’s preferred) in EE, EET, ME, MET or demonstrable equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of wire harness design experience.
- Automotive and/or high-voltage battery experience is preferred.
- Experience in 2D CAD drawing package is required.
- Autodesk AutoCAD and 3D CAD experience is preferred.
