The Fitness Coach represents 24 Hour Fitness to members and clients by delivering a positive fitness experience and quality personal and small group training sessions. The coach leverages experience and specialized education to deliver premium programming and consultation for clients in person.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Service and Train Clients- Design and deliver comprehensive fitness programs based on clients' goals, including exercise selections, varied fitness offerings, general nutrition guidelines, and teaching a fitness lifestyle.
- Inform clients of fitness tools available to assist them in achieving their goals.
- Set expectations and hold clients accountable to their programs through goal setting, follow‑up discussions, and progress tracking.
- Demonstrate safe and proper exercise techniques.
- Arrive on time, prepared, enthusiastic, and attentive for every training appointment or group session.
- Meet minimum productivity expectations servicing clients and group sessions.
- Increase member group training sessions and attendance through strong teaching skills and motivation for diverse fitness levels.
- Assist in member service activities such as fitness seminars, training days, and delivery of a positive fitness experience through complimentary fitness assessments.
- Build and generate a strong fitness business through new client acquisition and retention.
- Effectively onboard new members and clients by providing professional recommendations to help acclimate to a fitness lifestyle.
- Coach members on proper use of equipment and exercise techniques.
- Start and finish sessions as scheduled.
- Handle member concerns or direct them to appropriate club management.
- Maintain a clean and organized club by racking weights, performing team cleans, and assisting with club upkeep.
- Create, maintain, and regularly update progress for each personal training client following company guidelines.
- Schedule personal training sessions, appointments, and administration of time up to four weeks in advance using company systems.
Reports to the General Manager and interacts with all levels of club staff.
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Understand principles of physical fitness and proper exercise technique.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Adjust and operate fitness equipment.
- Perform a variety of exercise routines.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- CPR and AED certifications through in‑person training required.
- Degree in a related field or current certification through at least one nationally accredited industry association preferred.
- Specialized fitness credentials preferred or equivalent work experience or education in a specialized function.
- 1+ years of experience as a Personal Trainer or Fitness Coach.
- Holistic fitness program design and consultation experience preferred, but not required.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Daily duties include lifting weights, squatting, bending, reaching, spotting, jumping, kicking, prolonged standing and walking.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasional loud noise level.
- Extended workdays, weekends, and holidays as needed to support the business.

Benefit eligibility depends on position, hire date, and average hours worked. Eligible members may accrue vacation hours. All 24 Hour Team members and eligible dependents receive a complimentary membership.
CompensationSummary
All employees receive a free club membership, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), basic group life and AD&D insurance (US $10,000), and 401(k) savings and investment plan.
Average of 30 hours or more per week:
Medical/Dental/Vision benefits, paid time off, and sickness benefits (in addition to the above).
Fitness Coaches are paid a competitive hourly base rate with the opportunity to increase earnings through session premium pay for each training session. Coaches can also earn commissions on eligible fitness sales, creating a unique reward structure that recognizes performance and results. Pay range: US $24.50–39.20 per hour in‑session; $17.50 per hour non‑session.
