BYLP is seeking self-starting, energetic, positive, service-oriented individuals to work in school sites, office and virtual settings with elementary, middle school and high school aged youth, including interaction with the parents of program participants. This position provides a great opportunity to positively impact and influence the lives of Black youth by being a supportive and nurturing advocate. The role is multifaceted and includes teaching, limit setting, advocating, services coordination and being a positive adult role model.

Work as part of a dedicated team to make a difference in the lives of Black youth. Act as liaison or advocate and implement programs that promote, maintain, and improve individual and overall development.

Primary

Job Duties
  • Daily facilitation and coordination of BYLP programs and youth engagement in executing the plan of the day in accordance with program policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of program service plans.
  • Assist youth with meeting program goals and personal development.
  • Serve as a positive role model, mentor and advocate for youth.
  • Maintain appropriate relationships throughout all interactions.
  • Attend All Hands meetings and trainings as required.
  • Assist youth in identifying interests and skills within community service opportunities and activities, as indicated.
  • Serve as an advocate for assigned youth. Meet with youth weekly and provide advocate notes regarding the youth’s perspective and assessment of their respective week.
  • Assist in maintenance and cleanliness of the work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Associate's Degree (or other 2-year degree)
  • Bachelor's Degree

Knowledge
  • Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Education and Training - Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
