Base pay range: $63,403.00/yr - $91,524.00/yr

Job Summary

Provide a high-quality instructional program within a small school environment where every student can reach their fullest potential and acquire the tools needed to prepare for college. Build a personal relationship with each student, establish a culture of high expectations, and uphold the mission, vision, and values of Fortune School.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Establish a culture of high expectations that includes the shared belief that every student will attend college.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans and classroom activities aligned with California State Standards and Fortune School of Education Instructional Guidelines.
  • Assess students regularly and analyze results; refine and differentiate instruction based on data and student needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practices throughout the school; share best practices.
  • Assume leadership in aspects of school development.
  • Communicate regularly with students and families about classroom activities and progress.
  • Involve parents and guardians as partners in education.
  • Manage student behavior to ensure full engagement.
  • Participate in professional development and work closely with lead teachers, the principal, and instructional coaches.
  • Maintain accurate student records including attendance.
  • Identify unique student needs and collaborate to address them.
  • Support the mission, vision, and core values of Fortune School.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications (Experience & Skills)
  • Experience in assessment, emphasizing student achievement as the primary outcome.
  • Systematic assessment and monitoring of student progress using objective, verifiable information.
  • Collaboration with the principal to identify and respond to at‑risk students.
  • Referrals to appropriate community agencies when needed.
  • Provision of meaningful information to parents/guardians about student progress.
  • Maintenance of grading, reporting, and promotion policies and practices.
  • Knowledge of child cognitive development and various learning styles.
  • Knowledge of subject matter, including California State Standards and subject‑specific frameworks and assessments.
  • Ability and willingness to implement Fortune School Instructional Guidelines and best practices.
  • Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative student data.
  • Ability to reflect and improve instructional practices.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents, community, and stakeholders.
Educational Credentials
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Valid California Teaching Credential – Single Subject (Math).
  • Certification for teaching English Language Learners.
  • Preferred: 1+ year of teaching experience as a teacher, teacher intern, or teaching assistant.
Working Conditions
  • Office environment: frequent interruptions.
  • Outdoor environment: travel to school sites, meetings, and workshops.
Physical Abilities
  • Hearing and speaking to conduct group training and communication.
  • Reading printed material and computer screens.
  • Hearing and comprehending speech at normal volumes.
  • Dexterity to operate keyboard and other office equipment.
  • Capability for knee‑hinge, bending, and reaching overhead.
  • Ability to climb stairs, walk, sit for extended periods, and lift up to 10 lbs.
