Staff Accountant

Description

Amanda Warren with Robert Half is looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a great company in the South Sacramento area. In this position, you will play a key role in managing accounts receivable, reconciling financial records, and ensuring compliance with tax filings across multiple states.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic accounting team while gaining exposure to various aspects of financial operations.

Responsibilities:

- Reconcile cash and accounts receivable transactions across multiple entities to ensure accuracy.

- Process adjustments to accounts receivable and prepare journal entries as required.

- Monitor and manage bad debt write-offs and maintain the allowance account.

- Perform balance sheet reconciliations to verify financial data integrity.

- File sales tax returns and business fees for multiple states in compliance with regulations.

- Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries, including commissions and medical expenses.

- Support audit processes by providing necessary documentation and assistance.

- Serve as a backup for the senior accountant, assisting with fixed assets and other team responsibilities.

- Utilize accounting software such as AS400 and Sage
300 to manage financial data efficiently.

Requirements

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on accounts receivable and reconciliations.

- Proficiency in creating journal entries and handling adjustments/write-offs.

- Familiarity with month-end processes, including sub-ledger reconciliation to the general ledger.

- Experience with accounting software such as AS400 and Sage
300.

- Advanced knowledge of Excel for data analysis and reporting.

- Understanding of multi-state sales tax filings and compliance requirements.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in financial record-keeping.

- Ability to collaborate effectively within an accounting team and provide support when needed.
